Rig Veda 1.116.17

आ वां॒ रथं॑ दुहि॒ता सूर्य॑स्य॒ कार्ष्मे॑वातिष्ठ॒दर्व॑ता॒ जय॑न्ती । विश्वे॑ दे॒वा अन्व॑मन्यन्त हृ॒द्भिः समु॑ श्रि॒या ना॑सत्या सचेथे ॥
आ वां रथं दुहिता सूर्यस्य कार्ष्मेवातिष्ठदर्वता जयन्ती । विश्वे देवा अन्वमन्यन्त हृद्भिः समु श्रिया नासत्या सचेथे ॥
ā vāṃ rathaṃ duhitā sūryasya kārṣmevātiṣṭhad arvatā jayantī | viśve devā anv amanyanta hṛdbhiḥ sam u śriyā nāsatyā sacethe ||
English translation:
“The daughter of the sun ascended your car, (like a runner) to a goal; when you won (the race) with your swift horse, all the gods looked on with (anxious hearts), and you, Nāsatyas, were associated with glory.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Sūrya was desirous of giving his daughter Sūrya to Soma, but all the gods desired her as a wife; they agreed that he who should first reach the sun, as a goal should wed the damsel. The Aśvins were victorious, and Sūrya, well plural ased by their success, rushed immediately into their chariot
