Rig Veda 1.43.4

Sanskrit text [Accents, Plain, Transliterated]:

गा॒थप॑तिं मे॒धप॑तिं रु॒द्रं जला॑षभेषजम् । तच्छं॒योः सु॒म्नमी॑महे ॥
गाथपतिं मेधपतिं रुद्रं जलाषभेषजम् । तच्छंयोः सुम्नमीमहे ॥
gāthapatim medhapatiṃ rudraṃ jalāṣabheṣajam | tac chaṃyoḥ sumnam īmahe ||

English translation:

“We ask the felicity of Śaṃyu, from Rudra, the encourager of hymns, the protector of sacrifices, possessed of medicaments that confer delight.”

Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya

Śaṃyu is the son of Bṛhaspati. ja = one born;

Laṣa = happiness;

Jalāṣabheṣajam = he who has medicament conferring delight; cf. abhilāṣa
