प्र शं॑सा॒ गोष्वघ्न्यं॑ क्री॒ळं यच्छर्धो॒ मारु॑तम् । जम्भे॒ रस॑स्य वावृधे ॥
प्र शंसा गोष्वघ्न्यं क्रीळं यच्छर्धो मारुतम् । जम्भे रसस्य वावृधे ॥
pra śaṃsā goṣv aghnyaṃ krīḻaṃ yac chardho mārutam | jambhe rasasya vāvṛdhe ||
English translation:
“Praise the sportive and unresisted might of the Maruts, who were born amongst kine, and whose strength has been nourished by (the enjoyment of) the milk.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Goṣu-mārutam, Maruts among the cows; pṛśniyai vai payaso marut, Maruts were born of milk for Pṛśni. jambhe rasasya vavṛdhe, their vigour, derived from or of the milk, was increased (either) in enjoyment or in the belly: gokṣīrarūpasya sambandhi tat tejo jambhe mukhe udare vā vṛddham abhūt
