अ॒यो॒द्धेव॑ दु॒र्मद॒ आ हि जु॒ह्वे म॑हावी॒रं तु॑विबा॒धमृ॑जी॒षम् । नाता॑रीदस्य॒ समृ॑तिं व॒धानां॒ सं रु॒जाना॑: पिपिष॒ इन्द्र॑शत्रुः ॥
अयोद्धेव दुर्मद आ हि जुह्वे महावीरं तुविबाधमृजीषम् । नातारीदस्य समृतिं वधानां सं रुजानाः पिपिष इन्द्रशत्रुः ॥
ayoddheva durmada ā hi juhve mahāvīraṃ tuvibādham ṛjīṣam | nātārīd asya samṛtiṃ vadhānāṃ saṃ rujānāḥ pipiṣa indraśatruḥ ||
English translation:
“The arrogant Vṛtra, as if unequaled, defied Indra, the mighty hero, the destroyer of many, the scatterer of foes; he has not escaped the contact of the fate (Indra's) enemies. The foe of Indra has crushed the (banks of the) rivers.”
Commentary by Sāyaṇa: Ṛgveda-bhāṣya
Rujānāḥ pipiṣe, he has ground the rivers or broken down the banks of the rivers, signifying the fall of Vṛtra
