Part 1 - Characteristics of Vahnijara or Agnijara

Agnijara is the uterine excreta of agninakra, (a kind of shark) thrown upon the beach by sea waves and dried up by the sun. Agnijara is the pacifier of the three doshas. It cures tetanus and other diseases due to an excess of vayu. It increases the potency of mercury and the power of digestion. It is already purified by contact with the kshara contained in sea water, and does not therefore require any further purification.
