This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

इति दिवसमखेदं मन्दरोपान्तकच्छे विरचित उटजेऽन्तर्मालवेशो निनाय ।
न च नृपतिविलासं तं स सस्मार कं वा स्फुरति हृदि विवेके राज्यलक्ष्म्यो हरन्ति ॥ ६४ ॥

iti divasamakhedaṃ mandaropāntakacche viracita uṭaje'ntarmālaveśo nināya |
na ca nṛpativilāsaṃ taṃ sa sasmāra kaṃ vā sphurati hṛdi viveke rājyalakṣmyo haranti || 64 ||
