This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

वीतहव्योपाख्याने चित्तानुशासनं नाम सर्गः ।
त्र्यशीतितमः सर्गः ।
वसिष्ठः ।
वीतहव्यो महाबुद्धिर्विन्ध्याद्रौ कन्दरोदरे ।
क्षुराग्रशितया बुद्ध्या भूयश्चेदं व्यचारयत् ॥ १ ॥

vītahavyopākhyāne cittānuśāsanaṃ nāma sargaḥ |
tryaśītitamaḥ sargaḥ |
vasiṣṭhaḥ |
vītahavyo mahābuddhirvindhyādrau kandarodare |
