This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

भार्गवोपाख्याने विविधजन्मानुभवनं नाम सर्गः ।
एकत्रिंशदुत्तरशततमः सर्गः ।
वसिष्ठः ।
इति चिन्तयतस्तस्य शुक्रस्य पितुरग्रतः ।
जगामातितरां कालो बहुसंवत्सरात्मकः ॥ १ ॥ अथ कालेन महता पवनातपजर्जरः ।
कायस्तस्य पपातोर्व्यां छिन्नमूल इव द्रुमः ॥ २ ॥
