This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

भार्गवोपाख्याने नवसङ्गमो नाम सर्गः ।
त्रिंशदुत्तरशततमः सर्गः ।
वसिष्ठः ।
इति चित्तविलासेन चिरमुत्प्रेक्षितैः प्रियैः ।
प्रणयैर्भार्गवस्यासीत्तुष्टये ससमागमः ॥ १ ॥ मन्दारदामाकुलया वैबुधासवमत्तया ।
तदा तेन तया सार्धं द्वितीयेनामलेन्दुना ॥ २ ॥
