This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

भार्गवोपाख्याने भार्गवमनोराज्यं नाम सर्गः ।
एकोनत्रिंशदुत्तरशततमः सर्गः ।
वसिष्ठः ।
इति शुक्रः पुरं प्राप्य वैबुधं स्वेन चेतसा ।
विसस्मार निजं भावं प्राक्तनं व्यसनं विना ॥ १ ॥ मुहूर्तमथ विश्रम्य तस्य पार्श्वे शचीपतेः ।
स्वर्गं विहर्तुमुत्तस्थौ स्वर्वासिपरिचोदितः ॥ २ ॥
