This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

यावज्जीवमनिन्द्यया वरमते शास्त्रार्थसञ्जातया पाल्यं वासनया मनो हि मुनिवन्मौनेन रागादिषु ।
पश्चात्पावनपावनं पदमजं तत्प्राप्यते शीतलम् यत्संस्थेन न शोच्यते पुनरलं पुंसा महापत्स्वपि ॥ ४३ ॥

yāvajjīvamanindyayā varamate śāstrārthasañjātayā pālyaṃ vāsanayā mano hi munivanmaunena rāgādiṣu |
paścātpāvanapāvanaṃ padamajaṃ tatprāpyate śītalam yatsaṃsthena na śocyate punaralaṃ puṃsā mahāpatsvapi || 43 ||
