This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

प्रश्नानि मां कथय पार्थिव नाथ मन्त्रिन्नत्रार्थिनी भृशमहं परिपूरयार्थम् ।
अङ्गीकृतार्थमददत्क इवास्ति लोके दोषेण सङ्क्षयकरेण न युज्यते यः ॥ ४२ ॥

praśnāni māṃ kathaya pārthiva nātha mantrinnatrārthinī bhṛśamahaṃ paripūrayārtham |
aṅgīkṛtārthamadadatka ivāsti loke doṣeṇa saṅkṣayakareṇa na yujyate yaḥ || 42 ||
