This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

ज्ञानसत्पुरुषक्रमो नाम सर्गः ।
मुमुक्षुव्यवहारप्रकरणं समाप्तम् ।
वसिष्ठः ।
वाग्भाभिर्ब्रह्मविद्ब्रह्म भाति स्वप्न इवात्मनि ।
यदिदं तत्स्वशब्दार्थैर्यो यद्वेत्ति स वेत्तु तत् ॥ १ ॥

jñānasatpuruṣakramo nāma sargaḥ |
mumukṣuvyavahāraprakaraṇaṃ samāptam |
vasiṣṭhaḥ |
vāgbhābhirbrahmavidbrahma bhāti svapna ivātmani |
