Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. शरांस्तान्मृत्युसंस्पर्शान्सात्यकेस्तु पदानुगाः ।
न विषेहुस्तदा राजन्दुद्रुवुस्ते समन्ततः ।
विहाय समरे राजन्सात्यकिं युद्धदुर्मदम् ॥ १० ॥

na viṣehustadā rājandudruvuste samantataḥ |
