Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. वार्यमाणं हि भीष्मेण द्रोणेन च विशां पते ।
विद्रवत्येव तत्सैन्यं पश्यतोर्द्रोणभीष्मयोः ॥ २१ ॥

vāryamāṇaṃ hi bhīṣmeṇa droṇena ca viśāṃ pate |
vidravatyeva tatsainyaṃ paśyatordroṇabhīṣmayoḥ || 21 ||
