Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. जीमूत इव घर्मान्ते सर्वां संश्रावयन्सभाम् ।
धृतराष्ट्रमभिप्रेक्ष्य समभाषत माधवः ॥ २ ॥

jīmūta iva gharmānte sarvāṃ saṃśrāvayansabhām |
dhṛtarāṣṭramabhiprekṣya samabhāṣata mādhavaḥ || 2 ||
