Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यत्खाण्डवं दाहयता कृतं हि कृष्णद्वितीयेन धनंजयेन ।
श्रुत्वैव तत्कर्म नियन्तुमात्मा शक्यस्त्वया वै सह बान्धवेन ॥ ८ ॥
