Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तस्मान्न भवता चिन्ता कार्यैषा स्यात्कदाचन ।
दैवेष्वपेक्षका ह्येते शश्वद्भावेषु भारत ॥ ७ ॥

tasmānna bhavatā cintā kāryaiṣā syātkadācana |
daiveṣvapekṣakā hyete śaśvadbhāveṣu bhārata || 7 ||
