Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. Verse 5.40.26

ब्रह्मक्षत्रं वैश्यवर्णं च शूद्रः क्रमेणैतान्न्यायतः पूजयानः ।
तुष्टेष्वेतेष्वव्यथो दग्धपापस्त्यक्त्वा देहं स्वर्गसुखानि भुङ्क्ते ॥ २६ ॥

brahmakṣatraṃ vaiśyavarṇaṃ ca śūdraḥ krameṇaitānnyāyataḥ pūjayānaḥ |
tuṣṭeṣveteṣvavyatho dagdhapāpastyaktvā dehaṃ svargasukhāni bhuṅkte || 26 ||
