Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. न संरम्भेणारभतेऽर्थवर्गमाकारितः शंसति तथ्यमेव ।
न मात्रार्थे रोचयते विवादं नापूजितः कुप्यति चाप्यमूढः ॥ ९० ॥

na saṃrambheṇārabhate'rthavargamākāritaḥ śaṃsati tathyameva |
na mātrārthe rocayate vivādaṃ nāpūjitaḥ kupyati cāpyamūḍhaḥ || 90 ||
