Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. This portion also contains the Bhagavad-Gita. Alternative titles: Mahābhārata (महाभारत).

Verse 5.28.1

युधिष्ठिर उवाच ।
असंशयं संजय सत्यमेतद्धर्मो वरः कर्मणां यत्त्वमात्थ ।
ज्ञात्वा तु मां संजय गर्हयेस्त्वं यदि धर्मं यद्यधर्मं चरामि ॥ १ ॥

asaṃśayaṃ saṃjaya satyametaddharmo varaḥ karmaṇāṃ yattvamāttha |
jñātvā tu māṃ saṃjaya garhayestvaṃ yadi dharmaṃ yadyadharmaṃ carāmi || 1 ||
