Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. गत्वा देवर्षिगन्धर्वैः सहितोऽथ बृहस्पतिः ।
पुराणैः कर्मभिर्देवं तुष्टाव बलसूदनम् ॥ १३ ॥

gatvā devarṣigandharvaiḥ sahito'tha bṛhaspatiḥ |
purāṇaiḥ karmabhirdevaṃ tuṣṭāva balasūdanam || 13 ||
