Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स्वराष्ट्रपरराष्ट्रेषु ज्ञातव्यं बलमात्मनः ।
उदये पाण्डवानां च प्राप्ते काले न संशयः ॥ ६ ॥
