Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अदासो गच्छ मुक्तोऽसि मैवं कार्षीः पुनः क्वचित् ।
स्त्रीकामुक धिगस्तु त्वां क्षुद्रः क्षुद्रसहायवान् ।
एवंविधं हि कः कुर्यात्त्वदन्यः पुरुषाधमः ॥ २१ ॥

adāso gaccha mukto'si maivaṃ kārṣīḥ punaḥ kvacit |
strīkāmuka dhigastu tvāṃ kṣudraḥ kṣudrasahāyavān |
evaṃvidhaṃ hi kaḥ kuryāttvadanyaḥ puruṣādhamaḥ || 21 ||
