Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. श्रुत्वा स्वरं द्वारगतस्य भर्तुः प्रत्युत्थिता तिष्ठ गृहस्य मध्ये ।
दृष्ट्वा प्रविष्टं त्वरितासनेन पाद्येन चैव प्रतिपूजय त्वम् ॥ ६ ॥
