Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ततः स बकस्तमकूपारं कच्छपं विज्ञापयामास ।
अस्त्यस्माकमभिप्रेतं भवन्तं कंचिदर्थमभिप्रष्टुम् ।
साध्वागम्यतां तावदिति ॥ १५ ॥

tataḥ sa bakastamakūpāraṃ kacchapaṃ vijñāpayāmāsa |
astyasmākamabhipretaṃ bhavantaṃ kaṃcidarthamabhipraṣṭum |
sādhvāgamyatāṃ tāvaditi || 15 ||
