Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. घोरं व्रतं ब्राह्मणस्यैतदाहुरेतद्राजन्यदिहाजीवमानः ।
अयस्मया घोररूपा महान्तो वहन्तु त्वां शितशूलाश्चतुर्धा ॥ ६४ ॥
