Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. समृद्ध्या ह्यस्य लोकस्य लोको युष्माकमृध्यते ।
इमं च लोकं शोचन्तमनुशोचन्ति देवताः ।
पूज्यमानाश्च वर्धन्ते हव्यकव्यैर्यथाविधि ॥ १० ॥

samṛddhyā hyasya lokasya loko yuṣmākamṛdhyate |
imaṃ ca lokaṃ śocantamanuśocanti devatāḥ |
pūjyamānāśca vardhante havyakavyairyathāvidhi || 10 ||
