Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. श्लेष्मातकी क्षीणवर्चाः शृणोषि उताहो त्वां स्तुतयो मादयन्ति ।
हस्तीव त्वं जनक वितुद्यमानो न मामिकां वाचमिमां शृणोषि ॥ २८ ॥
