Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यावल्लोके मनुष्यास्त्वां कथयिष्यन्ति पार्थिव ।
तावत्कीर्तिश्च लोकाश्च स्थास्यन्ति तव शाश्वताः ॥ ३० ॥

yāvalloke manuṣyāstvāṃ kathayiṣyanti pārthiva |
