Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ततस्ता मातरः सर्वाः प्राक्रोशन्भृशदुःखिताः ।
परिवार्य जन्तुं सहिताः स शब्दस्तुमुलोऽभवत् ॥ ७ ॥

tatastā mātaraḥ sarvāḥ prākrośanbhṛśaduḥkhitāḥ |
parivārya jantuṃ sahitāḥ sa śabdastumulo'bhavat || 7 ||
