Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तेऽब्रुवन्सहिताः सर्वे वृणीष्वान्यतमं शुभे ।
अस्माकमीप्सितं भद्रे पतित्वे वरवर्णिनि ।
यत्र वाप्यभिकामासि तं वृणीष्व सुशोभने ॥ १८ ॥
