Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. विवाजश्च सुवाजश्च तस्मिन्युक्तौ रथे हयौ ।
ऊहतुस्तौ वसून्याशु तान्यगस्त्याश्रमं प्रति ।
सर्वान्राज्ञः सहागस्त्यान्निमेषादिव भारत ॥ १५ ॥

vivājaśca suvājaśca tasminyuktau rathe hayau |
ūhatustau vasūnyāśu tānyagastyāśramaṃ prati |
sarvānrājñaḥ sahāgastyānnimeṣādiva bhārata || 15 ||
