Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. नष्टात्मा कलिना स्पृष्टस्तत्तद्विगणयन्नृपः ।
जगामैव वने शून्ये भार्यामुत्सृज्य दुःखितः ॥ २५ ॥

jagāmaiva vane śūnye bhāryāmutsṛjya duḥkhitaḥ || 25 ||
