Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. पश्यामि स्वं समुत्थानमुपजीवन्ति जन्तवः ।
अपि धाता विधाता च यथायमुदके बकः ॥ ७ ॥

paśyāmi svaṃ samutthānamupajīvanti jantavaḥ |
api dhātā vidhātā ca yathāyamudake bakaḥ || 7 ||
