Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. वासुदेवस्तु पार्थेन तत्रैव सह भारत ।
उवास नगरे रम्ये शक्रप्रस्थे महामनाः ।
व्यचरद्यमुनाकूले पार्थेन सह भारत ॥ ५७ ॥

vāsudevastu pārthena tatraiva saha bhārata |
uvāsa nagare ramye śakraprasthe mahāmanāḥ |
vyacaradyamunākūle pārthena saha bhārata || 57 ||
