Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. पातिते भीमसेनेन शल्ये कर्णे च शङ्किते ।
शङ्किताः सर्वराजानः परिवव्रुर्वृकोदरम् ॥ २६ ॥

pātite bhīmasenena śalye karṇe ca śaṅkite |
śaṅkitāḥ sarvarājānaḥ parivavrurvṛkodaram || 26 ||
