Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. दर्शनीयानवद्याङ्गी सुकुमारी मनस्विनी ।
धृष्टद्युम्नस्य भगिनी द्रोणशत्रोः प्रतापिनः ॥ ८ ॥

darśanīyānavadyāṅgī sukumārī manasvinī |
dhṛṣṭadyumnasya bhaginī droṇaśatroḥ pratāpinaḥ || 8 ||
