Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. आर्ये जानासि यद्दुःखमिह स्त्रीणामनङ्गजम् ।
तदिदं मामनुप्राप्तं भीमसेनकृतं शुभे ॥ ५ ॥

tadidaṃ māmanuprāptaṃ bhīmasenakṛtaṃ śubhe || 5 ||
