Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. कृतं हि व्यक्तमाग्नेयमिदं वेश्म परंतप ।
शणसर्जरसं व्यक्तमानीतं गृहकर्मणि ।
मुञ्जबल्वजवंशादि द्रव्यं सर्वं घृतोक्षितम् ॥ १४ ॥
