Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. एवमुक्त्वा महीपालान्काशिराजं च वीर्यवान् ।
सर्वाः कन्याः स कौरव्यो रथमारोपयत्स्वकम् ।
आमन्त्र्य च स तान्प्रायाच्छीघ्रं कन्याः प्रगृह्य ताः ॥ १३ ॥
