Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स जायमानो विगृहीतगात्रः षड्ज्ञाननिष्ठायतनो मनुष्यः ।
स श्रोत्राभ्यां वेदयतीह शब्दं सर्वं रूपं पश्यति चक्षुषा च ॥ १५ ॥

sa jāyamāno vigṛhītagātraḥ ṣaḍjñānaniṣṭhāyatano manuṣyaḥ |
sa śrotrābhyāṃ vedayatīha śabdaṃ sarvaṃ rūpaṃ paśyati cakṣuṣā ca || 15 ||
