Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. कान्तारेष्वपि विश्रामो नरस्याध्वनिकस्य वै ।
यः सदारः स विश्वास्यस्तस्माद्दाराः परा गतिः ॥ ४३ ॥

kāntāreṣvapi viśrāmo narasyādhvanikasya vai |
yaḥ sadāraḥ sa viśvāsyastasmāddārāḥ parā gatiḥ || 43 ||
