Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. अत्र ते हृदयं वेद सत्यस्यैवानृतस्य च ।
कल्याण बत साक्षी त्वं मात्मानमवमन्यथाः ॥ २५ ॥

atra te hṛdayaṃ veda satyasyaivānṛtasya ca |
kalyāṇa bata sākṣī tvaṃ mātmānamavamanyathāḥ || 25 ||
