Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. न बाल एव म्रियते तदा कश्चिन्नराधिप ।
न च स्त्रियं प्रजानाति कश्चिदप्राप्तयौवनः ॥ १५ ॥

na bāla eva mriyate tadā kaścinnarādhipa |
na ca striyaṃ prajānāti kaścidaprāptayauvanaḥ || 15 ||
