Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. वपुष्टमा चापि वरं पतिं तदा प्रतीतरूपं समवाप्य भूमिपम् ।
भावेन रामा रमयां बभूव वै विहारकालेष्ववरोधसुन्दरी ॥ ११ ॥
