Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. मम्लुर्माल्यानि देवानां शेमुस्तेजांसि चैव हि ।
उत्पातमेघा रौद्राश्च ववर्षुः शोणितं बहु ।
रजांसि मुकुटान्येषामुत्थितानि व्यधर्षयन् ॥ ३२ ॥

mamlurmālyāni devānāṃ śemustejāṃsi caiva hi |
utpātameghā raudrāśca vavarṣuḥ śoṇitaṃ bahu |
rajāṃsi mukuṭānyeṣāmutthitāni vyadharṣayan || 32 ||
