Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. स तान्निषादानुपसंहरंस्तदा रजः समुद्धूय नभःस्पृशं महत् ।
समुद्रकुक्षौ च विशोषयन्पयः समीपगान्भूमिधरान्विचालयन् ॥ ११ ॥

sa tānniṣādānupasaṃharaṃstadā rajaḥ samuddhūya nabhaḥspṛśaṃ mahat |
samudrakukṣau ca viśoṣayanpayaḥ samīpagānbhūmidharānvicālayan || 11 ||
