Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. जघन्यजस्तक्षकस्य श्रुतसेनेति यः श्रुतः ।
अवसद्यो महद्द्युम्नि प्रार्थयन्नागमुख्यताम् ।
करवाणि सदा चाहं नमस्तस्मै महात्मने ॥ १४६ ॥

avasadyo mahaddyumni prārthayannāgamukhyatām |
