Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. प्रतिजज्ञे दृढक्रोधो द्रौणिर्यत्र महारथः ।
अहत्वा सर्वपाञ्चालान्धृष्टद्युम्नपुरोगमान् ।
पाण्डवांश्च सहामात्यान्न विमोक्ष्यामि दंशनम् ॥ १८० ॥
